How does the Saayman airport vehicle rental work?

1. You book and pay for the rental vehicle of your choice (delivery van or bakkie) online on the reservations page on this website or book through Whatsapp +27 60 985 0263

2. You land at the airport, collect your luggage (if needed), walk through to the airport quick pick-up point where you will be met by a Saayman Van and Bakkie Rentals staff member who will explain the workings of the vehicle, hand you the paperwork and hand you the key. You drive off. Easy!

3. When returning to the airport, a Saayman Car Hire staff member will meet you at the quick drop-off location, make a quick vehicle inspection, you hand the member the vehicle key and you go catch your flight.

How much does airport van or bakkie rental cost?

Vehicle rental starts from approximately R570 per day for a small bakkie and R680 per day for a Hilux or Workhorse, with the first 200km FREE. See the rental options. 

After the first free 200km, there is a per/km charge, with differing rates applying to different class vehicles. These rates are clearly explained when you reserve a vehicle.

Please note the mandatory add-ons:

- Re-Fuelling Fee @ R40 per rental

- Contract Fee @ R90 per rental

What are the operating hours for airport vehicle hire?

The vehicle of your choice can be delivered to you at the airport any time between 4h00 (4am) and 22h00 (10pm) on any day of the week. 

For the record, Cape Town International Airport is open 24 hours per day but the security closes at 10pm and reopens at 4am.

Who can rent a van or bakkie at the airport?

The Saayman Van and Bakkie Rentals service is available only to persons who fly in and out from the airport, not if the person resides in Cape Town or the surrounding areas. (For the latter, you are most welcome to book a vehicle through the general Saayman Van and Bakkie Rentals reservation service to pick up and deliver your rental vehicle at the Saayman Rental Office in Strand, Cape Town.) 

Saayman Van and Bakkie Rentals vehicles are available to all persons with a valid Passport or ID and valid driver's license on pick-up of your rental vehicle. Please note that your driver's license must be issued in English you have the International Driver's Permit Booklet with the translations.

Can you provide a driver?

The Saayman Airport Van and Bakkie Rentals service is available only to persons who can drive themselves.

What if my flight is cancelled?

Should you flight be cancelled for the day, contact Saayman Rental Office to discuss arrangements. It is easiest to do this through Whatsapp +27 60 985 0263

 May I rent a trailer at the airport?

The trailer rental is not available at the airport.
